1. Magnetic switch: It is a special name for cylinder sensors, mainly used to detect the position of cylinder pistons. Usually, they are provided by cylinder suppliers according to customer usage. As the name implies, magnetic switches detect targets through electromagnetic induction, so their detection accuracy is quite low.
2. Proximity switch: Proximity switches are also designed and manufactured based on the principle of electromagnetic induction, so they can only detect metal targets, and the sensing distances of different metals are slightly different. Currently, the commonly used proximity switch detection distances are approximately as follows: 1mm, 2mm, 4mm, 8mm, 12mm, etc. There are usually two types of proximity switches: embedded and non-embedded. The so-called embedded type means that the proximity switch's sensing head does not detect metal targets in its circumferential direction, but only detects metal targets in front of it, that is, the sensor sensing head can not expose the metal mounting bracket; the so-called non-embedded type means that the proximity switch sensing head detects both the metal target in front of it and the metal target in its circumferential direction, that is, the sensor sensing head must be exposed to a certain distance from the metal mounting bracket and there must be no metal targets within a certain range in the circumferential direction to avoid misjudgment. The detection accuracy of the proximity switch is higher than that of the magnetic switch. The proximity switch is usually used in situations where the position accuracy requirement is relatively low, such as judging whether the product is present or not, whether the fixture is in place, etc.
